Last year challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted Permanent Change of Station (PCS) moves for many active-duty military families. Labor shortages affecting the availability of movers, rental trucks, and moving containers added increased strain on the moving process for many. To make this year’s move as smooth as possible, families can take advantage of easy-to-use resources to find and relocate to your new home with ease.

HOW MILITARY HOUSING PROVIDERS CAN HELP

The experiences of military families drive the culture of military Housing Association (MHA) member companies – all of which employ many military spouses who PCS each year. Our members are committed to making these moves as seamless as possible by providing support services to connect families with Military Housing Privatization Initiative (MHPI) housing representatives at their next duty station or installation.

Looking for conveniently located housing options at your next location? Use our installation location database to find military housing communities at or near your new destination.

We encourage military families to take the following steps to ensure a smooth process, including:

  • As soon as orders are received, utilize the Defense Personal Property System (DPS) to upload a copy of your orders and complete shipment applications relating to your move.
  • Schedule a move by contacting your local Transportation Office (TO). The sooner this is completed, the higher the chance the military family will have of receiving confirmation that the moving company has been booked in advance.
  • Contact your current and future military housing company to begin the move-out and move-in process and answer any questions along the way.
