Sustaining thriving military communities requires continuous investment. In 2024, privatized military housing partner Hunt Military Communities announced major investments totaling over $220 million in upgrades and renovations to their portfolio as part of a vital effort to support military readiness.

Such substantial investments in military housing are made possible through innovative public-private partnerships under the Military Housing Privatization Initiative (MHPI). Congress designed the program to facilitate sustainable portfolio improvements by leveraging private sector resources and expertise.

This cost-effective approach translates to year-over-year improvements to military communities – including $71 million in renovations, $57 million in HVAC systems, and critical infrastructure and amenity improvements at 27 installations served by Hunt.

Comprehensive sustainment initiatives also included strategic energy efficient upgrades to strengthen the Department of Defense’s privatized family housing portfolio’s long-term financial stability through energy savings, supporting installation resiliency for decades to come.

Throughout 2024, Hunt made consistent efforts to strengthen its military housing partnerships, demonstrating the effectiveness of the MHPI program. By allowing for private investment, MHPI providers continue to preserve and improve military communities for our nation’s heroes and their families.
