Hunt Military Communities announced the launch of its Phase II Solar and Battery Project at Hanscom Air Force Base to advance renewable energy goals. The project will install rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) systems at the installations military family housing community, totaling 2.2 megawatts of renewable energy for the community.
City Light & Power (CLP) – the engineering, procurement, and construction contractor for this project – will install solar PV systems on garages and rooftops in the community, alongside a centralized Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The PV system will allow Hanscom Family Housing to draw more than 30 percent of its electricity supply from renewable energy sources.
The project is expected to yield approximately 2,500 MWh in its first year, a substantial step in embracing renewable energy sources. With this update, Hunt is on track to deliver more than 20 MW of solar energy across its nationwide housing portfolio.

The project is expected to be completed by early 2025 and is supported by state incentives from the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources. When complete, the strategic investment aims to significantly the community’s carbon footprint, supporting state and Department of Defense renewable energy goals.
