Corvias recently became the first military housing provider to earn WELL Residence certification from the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), the leading global certification for healthy buildings. The milestone certification is the first time that on-post military housing units were evaluated by a third-party in accordance with the WELL residential standard. Corvias managed homes at Fort Meade and Fort Liberty received the certification.

The recognition stems from Corvias’ efforts to enhance on-base military housing to meet critical thresholds for indoor health and safety. The achievement demonstrates that improving living conditions for service members and their families is possible through commitment to science-backed strategies.

Corvias has implemented scalable improvement to indoor living conditions with third-party verification against the leading health standards, aligning with the Department of Defense Resilient and Healthy Defense Communities Strategy.

“Corvias’ achievement of WELL Residence certification stands as a testament to our dedicated approach to partnership and innovation,” said Chris Wilson, Corvias Chief Executive Officer. “We are committed to ensuring that military families live in homes that not only support their current well-being but also fortify them against future health challenges, ultimately leading to stronger and more resilient communities. We are encouraged by the scalability of this program to achieve third party indoor health certification and the prospects of broad adoption of these strategies across our peer companies in privatized military housing.”

Corvias used a comprehensive process for improving and measuring indoor conditions, achieving benchmarks without the need for lengthy renovations. Improved conditions were validated through testing of air quality, water quality, humidity, and lighting. Corvias also deployed strategies to support resident nutrition, physical activity, mental health, and sense of community.

To date, 50 homes at Fort Meade and Fort Liberty have achieved the designation. At Fort Meade, residents reported an 82% increase in housing satisfaction.

Prioritizing the health and safety of servicemembers is at the heart of the Military Housing Privatization Initiative (MHPI). The program was created by Congress to address housing shortfalls and improve quality of life for service members. Since its inception, companies like Corvias have leveraged private sector expertise to meet the needs of military families.
